Captain,
It was a whirlwind week in San Diego and I hardly can wait until I see you again. For a while there I thought it would be a lot longer before I got to see you, what with that storm reaching from Minnesota to Massachusetts. True to form, however, the travel fairies worked their magic and yet again did I avoid the weather.
I am waiting for the other shoe to drop.
In the meantime, however, I am thrilled about our first book club selection: Eat, Memory, a collection of essays edited by Amanda Hesser of The New York Times. You already know that “Eat, Memory,” a space where writers recount their memories of food, is my favorite thing about the Times, period. (The laminated clippings hanging in my kitchen in Boston probably tipped you off.) What you don’t know, though, is just why it is my favorite thing about the Times.
